Why Into The Known?

Research has shown that only a few rural youths see a future for themselves, which is solely in agriculture. To add to their already limited chances, most of these youths do not have access to the right education, training, platform, nurturing, or networking they need to compete with their peers from urban areas. This is the reality ITK has found to be true.

As the world is continuously evolving and becoming a global village, it is becoming clearer that society needs more than solely an agrarian system to thrive. New skills are emerging, trends are unfolding, and digital tools are becoming popular. Hence, there is an urgent need to improve rural youths’ access to bespoke education as there is a direct link between education and poverty. When children are educated, they develop the skills and knowledge that can help them become better persons in the future; thus, breaking the poverty cycle and disparities between rural youths and those in urban areas. It is important to note that education is key to overcoming development challenges in rural areas.

According to the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (2017-2020) in 2016, the possibility of a Nigerian child being born and achieving his/her full professional and economic potential is low; of which the Human Capital Index put this at 36 percent. Then, what is expected of a child from a community without access to basic services to enhance their growth and potential? ITK is set to break the cycle of poverty among rural youths by leveraging the gap between them and the world and offering them the opportunity of a lifetime for the betterment of their lives and communities.

Given the power and influence of media activities on youths in general, ITK is designed in a competitive format TV show, centering on real people and real events or situations. In other words, it is a platform to show the yet-to-be-nurtured skills of rural youths with potential so they can be seen, heard, and known. There is a quote that says “There is huge potential in the rural region”. This potential refers to the people and materials in the rural region.

ITK serves as a form of awareness to youths in targeted communities, so they can have something to look forward to, inspiring them to put in their best efforts to work on their potential rather than giving up and succumbing to a life they dreaded. It is a platform of opportunities for talented rural youths to harness their talents and bring dreams to reality.
